The Portland Roadhouse
2020 will be the 11th year for the Portland Roadhouse event - a 10-hour contra dance with different bands and callers playing eight 65-minute slots. The calling and music is all volunteer (unpaid) except for travel expenses for those coming from out of town. The Portland Roadhouse is a showcase for contra dance music and calling from along the I-5 corridor and a delightful presentation of our Pacific Northwest talent.
The organizing committee members range from Roseburg, Ore. to Seattle, Wash. The Portland Roadhouse event is a benefit for Northwest Folklife. It is part of the larger Cascade Promenade weekend, a series of back-to-back dances starting with a dance in Hillsboro on Wednesday, March 11th, the Seattle Contra Marathon and both Contra and Waltz dances in Portland Thursday, March 12th, many dance events on Friday, March 12th, ranging from Seattle to Eugene, an afternoon dance in Olympia on Saturday, March 14th, the Portland Megaband on Saturday night, and finally the Portland Roadhouse on Sunday, March 15th.
The Portland Roadhouse Dance will be held at the Milwaukie Community Club Center, 10666 SE 42nd Ave., Milwaukie, OR 97222
