Sage Dance Company presents..."In Conversation with Irek Mukhamedov"
Irek Mukhamedov, one of the greatest dancers of The Bolshoi Ballet, The Royal Ballet and the English National Ballet Companies, occupies a special place in the hearts of British dancegoers.
Tonight he will give an illustrated talk about his illustrious international career, be interviewed by Stephen Rowe, and the evening will end with a Q&A.There will be an opportunity to meet Irek after the talk.
A glass of wine or soft drink is included with the ticket price.

Irek Mukhamedov, born in Russia in 1960, joined The Bolshoi Ballet as a Principal in 1981, after winning the Grand Prix and Gold Medal at the International Ballet Competition in Moscow.
During his nine years with the Company his title roles included Yuri Grigorovichs Spartacus, Ivan the Terrible, Romeo and Juliet and The Golden Age.
In 1987, he won the Hans Christian Andersen Prize for Best Dancer in the World.
In 1990 he left the Soviet Union and joined The Royal Ballet where he danced a wide variety of classical and more contemporary Principal roles including Swan Lake, Giselle, Manon, and Romeo and Juliet. His partners included Viviana Durante and Darcey Bussell.
Kenneth MacMillan created the lead roles in Winter Dreams and The Judas Tree for him and in 1995 he performed the title role in Twyla Tharp's Mr Worldly Wise.
In 2000, he was awarded an OBE.
His last guest appearances at the Royal Ballet were in Mayerling in 2004.
In 2016, at the age of 56, he created the role of Diego Riviera in Annabelle Lopez Ochoas Broken Dreams, part of English National Ballets triple bill She Said, and the following year danced a solo created for him by Arthur Pita, Jingling from the Zills, for Ivan Putrovs Men in Motion.

Irek is currently Ballet Master of the Paris Opera, prior to which he was Guest Principal Ballet Master at English National Ballet.

We were deeply honoured and thrilled when the legendary Irek Mukhamedov became Sage Dance Company's Patron in 2018.
