.A chaotic family Seder with a magical guestElijah by Sandy Rustin

.A Jewish theater grapples with showing a controversial play--Settlements by Seth Rozin

.College students in a screenwriting class struggle with Holocaust material A Moving Picture by Jennie Berman Eng

For the 7th year, Continuum Theater, a Jewish theater and arts organization in Chicago, teams up with contest founder, The Jewish Plays Project, to present The Midwest Jewish Play Writing Contest 2020.

Excerpts from 3 new Jewish plays will be presented by professional actors in front of an audience that then votes for their favorite to move on in the competition.   The BEST NEW JEWISH PLAY gets a week of development with actors and director in New York and a showcase staged reading.  Audiences in 8 cities participate in the process of picking the play.

The Midwest Jewish Play Writing Contest was generously underwritten by a gift from Continuum Theater supporter, Sonia Marschak.

More information about the playwrights and a short synopsis of the remaining semi-finalist plays can be found here:

If you are interested in Jewish culture and history, creative writing, theater and plays, this event is for you.  As a voting member of the audience you contribute in your small way to Jewish cultural history.
