2020 Chester County Blues BBQ
We regret to announce that due to the coronavirus pandemic we are cancelling the 2020 Chester County Blues BBQ. This was a very difficult decision, but we must put the health and safety of our guests first. We will return on June 5th 2021 - and hope that we can get Rick Estrin and the NightCats to join us. The Coventry Lions Club appreciates your support over the years, we remain committed to serving our community so please reach out if we can provide a helping hand. Stay safe, stay strong and we'll see you in June 2021.
The Blues Barbecue will be held Saturday, June 6 2020 Rain or Shine!
There is a large tent for shelter and you are welcome to bring your own canopies.
The Chester County Blues BBQ is an annual event sponsored by the Coventry Lions Club featuring regional and national Blues performers. All proceeds from the event go to support the charitable activities of the Lions Club.
Tickets for the event are $20 in advance online or $25 in cash at the gate. Children 12 and under are free. Online tickets sales will be suspended at 9am on the day of the event. Tickets will only be available at the gate after that time for $25 (cash only).
Food, refreshments and beer will be available for purchase from vendors on site. Admission ticket does not include food and beverage. We recommend bringing a folding chair for seating. Coolers are permitted.
The gates open at noon and the lineup for this year's event includes Rick Estrin and the NightCats and two more top blues bands.
Rick Estrin & The Nightcats
Larger-than-life blues star Rick Estrin has piloted the wildly fun and musically fearless Rick Estrin & The Nightcats for the last decade, touring the world and proving night after night why they won 2018s Blues Music Award for Band Of The Year. The limitless combined talents of blues harmonica virtuoso and sly, soulful singer Estrin, guitar mastermind Kid Andersen, keyboard wizard Lorenzo Farrell and endlessly creative drummer Derrick DMar Martin take Estrins inventive, original songs to new and unexpected places. On stage, the bands ability to deliver an unpredictable, no-holds-barred show is unmatched.
Nate Myers and the Aces
Lead by vocalist Nate Myers and his harmonica, the band creates a loose, casual atmosphere in which everyone can relax and have a good time! Whether the audience prefers to sit back and listen or get up and shake that thang, there is something for everyone. Nate Myers is an excellent musician, songwriter, and performer the consummate entertainer who keeps the audiences attention throughout the entire performance. On a typical evening, audiences can hear influences from many forms of American music blues, funk, hip hop, rockabilly, country and improvisation. Nate Myers & the Aces take all these styles they love and weave them into a tapestry of their own.
SlideWinder Blues Band
SlideWinder Blues Band hits hard with its own brand of Texas and Chicago driven contemporary blues. For those times when the 1, 4, 5 just isn't enough, the bands sonic pallet is peppered with flavors from the Mississippi Delta and New Orleans.
Now in its fourth year, SlideWinder isnt just a band, its a community. Winner of the Bucks Happening List for two consecutive years for best band category, as well as a debut record, SlideWinder is poised to expand it's footprint.
Voodoo Deville
Between sets, you'll once again be entertained by Voodoo Deville in the beer tent! The Voodoo DeVille band has been a local Chester County favorite since 1998. While Chicago blues was their starting point, their repertoire has expanded to include jump, boogie, swing, early rock 'n roll, and rockabilly. Counting many of the greats as their idols and influences, they don't feel bound to stick strictly to one style or one way of playing. If it's fun to play, then it's in their set list. The music is upbeat and danceable and proven to please a wide range of audiences.
