Improv for Business: Leadership
The Maydays business improv course in London is an open group programme, allowing you to book a place as an individual, without needing to form a group in your own company.
You will be able to explore your own skills, comfort zone and patterns of behaviour in a supportive, collaborative environment but without the judgement of your co-workers or bosses. Or you can get together with a few of your work colleagues and experience the thrill of Improv Training together.
Whether you run your own business, manage a group of people or are climbing up the business ladder, you will always find ways that improv training can help you develop your interpersonal, decision making, leadership and communication skills.
Improv for Business: programme contents The business improv course is universally accessible. You do not need any previous experience of improvisation, you don't need acting skills, you don't need to sing or be funny. If you have some of those skills already, you're equally welcome, as long as you remember this is not about solo acts. Improvisation is collaborative in its nature and you will find new ways of connecting and working with those around you.
Our expert facilitators will take you and the group through a series of carefully selected exercises, games and scenarios that will challenge and delight you. Some will require you to step forward and own the space, others to support, listen and be flexible. What we can guarantee is a safe space, huge levels of support and encouragement, and lots of laughter.
Our sessions are suitable for all and we have a slightly different slant each time so you can get your regular fix without too much repetition. Whether it is just a one-off experiment for you or part of a life-changing new regime, improv training will fit into and adapt to your needs, just as we do with the group.
Every programme is CPD accredited, so the points can count towards your personal development or annual training plan.
Improv course outcomes
Each session has a different focus, but will cover some common areas and skills:
- Deep listening and effective communication - Working as part of a team and collaborating effectively - Staying focussed and present in unfamiliar and unpredictable situations - Trusting your instincts and knowing when to step forward and take charge - Accepting other people and their ideas, building trust - Stepping out of your comfort zone and achieving something incredible.
In addition, this particular session will have a focus on: Leadership
Leadership involves a complex set of interactions with other people across any business or social hierarchy. Learn to inspire and lead those who you manage, while being inspired by and listening carefully to those who lead you.
You can actually practise when to lead and when to follow with improvisation. Trust your instincts for when to speak up, when to shut up and listen and when to mediate in different situations. Improv is such a flexible approach to training, you will find yourself learning new things about yourself while laughing and building confidence in yourself.
By the end of the session, you will feel uplifted and with a renewed sense of authority, confidence and leadership. You will also gain insights into how other people respond to you as a leader, and how it feels to be part of a team responding to different leadership styles.
