The Southern Arizona Blues Heritage Foundation is thrilled to present Kim Wilson's Blues All-Stars in a KXCI Presents show at El Casino Ballroom. SABHF is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to the support and presentation of Blues music and culture in Southern Arizona. KXCI has made a 30+ year commitment to Blues airplay. SABHF wanted to end the year on a high note after a year of fantastic Blues shows with the top musicians in the genre.
On Friday December 6, 2019 Kim Wilson's Blues All-Stars will roll into Tucson. Kim Wilson, best known as the leader of the long running Fabulous Thunderbirds is surely one of the best Blues singers and harmonica players in the music business. His harmonica and voice graced the albums of Bonnie Raitt, Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, James Cotton and more. A series of acclaimed solo albums, along with 30 years of award-winning Fabulous Thunderbirds recordings and hundreds of live performances have guaranteed him a place in history.
Kim Wilson's Blues All-Stars is indeed that, a roundup of some of the best in the Blues. Appearing with Kim will be guitarist Billy Flynn. Billy has played with Otis Rush, Pinetop Perkins and Mississippi Heat, and has a recent album of his own on Chicago's Delmark Records label. He has recently been working with Alligator Records recording artists The Cash Box Kings. Bob Welsh is a regular member of Elvin Bishops band and has toured and recorded with Bonnie Raitt, James Cotton, Pinetop Perkins, James Harman and many others. Kedar Roy on bass and Andrew Guterman on drums are two of the West Coast's most in-demand session players.
A new Tucson band, The New Speedway Stompers, featuring Billy Wildman on harmonica will open the show. Billy earned his stripes playing on Maxwell Street in Chicago in the 70s. In the 80s he fronted the house band at Dan Ackroyds US Blues bar. He just returned from a long road trip doing shows with Buddy Guy, Devil In A Woodpile, Joel Paterson and The Silver Kings.
