Seasons of Light: Hope for the Holidays
The Estes Park Chorale, in its first concert of the season, will present an eclectic collection of songs exploring the themes of light, hope, and peace. The Chorale and soloist, Deborah Webb, will sing a lively gospel rendition of "True Light" by Keith Hampton, followed by Harry Belefonte's "Turn the World Around". Composer Craig Hella Johnson combined the popular song "The Rose" with a traditional carol "Lo, How a Rose" to create a haunting new arrangement for choirs. "Twas in the Moon of Wintertime" and "See Amid the Winter's Snow" are also included in the concert, while two rounds "Dona Nobis Pacem" and "Oseh Shalom" ask for peace in the world. The choir will also sing the lovely "I Wish you Christmas" by John Rutter. Middle school soloist Grace Thamert will join the women of the choir for the lovely "Christmastide" by Tom Shelton. Other soloists for the concert include Brad and Kelley Anderson, Ruth Mutschler, Denise Stookesberry, and John Wray.
