DeliKateSSen
Written by playwright, Richard Atkins, "DeliKateSSen" is an intimate family portrait of loss and revenge set in a modest, family establishment on Manhattan's west side, circa 1972. The owners of Shapiros New York Deli have survived the Holocaust and are now faced with a new threat posed by a neighboring business owned by people who may, or may not, be whom they seem. The play has been called out by two, high profile playwright competitions in New York City and has received critical praise in all three of its productions thus far.

Actor Austin Pendleton writes: "Congratulations, Richard. Your play totally deserves all the accolades it is receiving. I read it a few days ago and have been haunted by it and pondering it ever since. It's beautifully written and irreplaceable and urgent. I'm honored that you thought of me for it." Law and Order producer/director Matthew Penn writes: You are a fine writer. The play is original and quite compelling. Jamie Farr of M*A*S*H fame states: "Atkins play is compelling, powerful. I just could not stop reading it. It can remain a secret, but I cannot help but wonder if this was an actual story of people Atkins interviewed or knew. The projections are wonderful added touches. Atkins is a wonderful talent and should be proud of this piece of work. Bravo." With dramaturgy by Tony winning author, Mark ("Children Of A Lesser God") Medoff, the play is a totally immersive experience utilizing multi-media projections, music, voiceovers and more. You have never experienced such a unique, multi-faceted piece of theatre like this ever before and the timely issues it delves into will have you thinking about it for days and weeks to come. The play is being sponsored by the Albuquerque Community Foundation, the Jewish Federation of New Mexico, the Jewish Community Foundation of New Mexico, the Intolerance Museum of New Mexico and generous, private donations.
