Voices on the Green, First Parish's series of live performances centered around themes that explore our human experience, begins it's fourth season with "Belonging." Seven storytellers will explore their personal struggles and successes in finding how and where to belong, interspersed with musical pieces selected for the theme.
Among the stories: An Iraqi refugee, after years of displacement, finally finds a place to belong in Lexington. A working-class boy finds himself struggling to belong at an elite boarding school. A young teacher whose mission is to reach every child questions whether she belongs in her new job. A woman who moved frequently in childhood yearns to unite the scattered people with whom she belonged in her past. An immigrant mother finds that her fathers unwanted pressure to meditate opens a path to belonging.
The music popular Broadway show tunes and folk songs focused on themes of belonging will be sung by Nate Ramsayer, professional tenor.
A fun program for children, also focused on the theme of Belonging, will be led by storyteller/musician Marlon Carey. Friday, October 18, 2019, 7-9 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
