Ukulele Open Mic with Avery Hill
Calling all players and fans of the ukulele! Join us for an entire evening devoted to our love for our delightful instrument. Hosted by Avery Hill, Director of Song by Song™ (www.learnsongbysong.com), this Ukulele Open Mic will feature acts representing a variety of ukulele communities around the Portland metro area. Jam leaders from around town will direct the entire audience in a couple group songs, as well, so all are encouraged to bring their instrument(s)!

Have a song or two you'd like to share? Individuals and small groups are invited to sign up for a slot ahead of time (email avery@learnsongbysong.com) or the night of, if there is still space.

Are you involved in a local ukulele jam community? Be sure to bring informational material, as this evening is also all about networking and spreading the word about local opportunities to make music with others.

Avery Hill has been teaching music since 2013. She grew up going to music festivals with her father and being dutifully shlepped to music lessons by her mother. After hearing one too many stories about traumatizing piano teachers and choir directors, Avery realized how lucky she was to have had such quality musical instruction. In 2016, she founded Song by Song™ (www.learnsongbysong.com) as a school of music that believes deeply in sharing the joy of making music with others. Weekly classes are offered year-round, as are one-time workshops, occasional retreats, and monthly jams at Artichoke Music. In the classroom and her community, she considers herself part expert, part guide, and part cheerleader. When she's not teaching ukulele, you can find her on stage as a singer-songwriter or carrying her napping 1-year-old on walks on Mount Tabor.
