Do you find floorwork intimidating? Or are you experienced but just need some inspiration? This class is for you! Each class, you will learn about Dahlias four categories of floorwork and moves to facilitate them; Getting to the floor, Transitions, Tricks and Getting up gracefully. There will be modifications for those with injuries, and a few challenges to take home and work with. There will be choreography each class to tie together the moves you just learned, as well as conditioning tips and tricks to get that body ready for safe floor-play.
The overall tone of this class is playful and fun because floorwork is different for everybody! Dahlia is a long-time veteran of floorwork, body mechanics and is a Registered Nurse, so safety is always first! About the Instructor: DAHLIA DULCE is known as the Hot Tamale of the Twin Cities, but her moniker pales in comparison to the woman herself. On stage, this Leggy Latina pays homage to her mother and grandmothers legacy of traditional Mexican dance with colorful choreography and a spicy side-eye. An international sensation from Vancouver to St. Louis, Los Angeles to Orlando, she's also current reigning Princess of Viva Las Vegas and The International Latin and Hispanic Burlesque Festival.
This Latin Girl is as cool and efficient off the stage as she is fiery in the spotlight. She's the co-founder with Elektra Cute of celebrated Blackhearts Burlesque, the longest-running queer burlesque show in Minneapolis, and a co-creator of Dapper Fella Products, a gender-neutral line of luxury self-care and burlesque merchandise.
As a Registered Nurse, Dahlia coaches patients and families about their health care on the daily and a seasoned entertainer, this Mexicana has a lot to share in both mentorship and teaching. With these combined experiences, Dahlia is able to cater to the different needs of all her students. Entrepreneurial in both business and pleasure - this queer femme does it all. She's excited to bring the heat to the classroom at The Twin Cities Burlesque Academy!
THE TWIN CITIES BURLESQUE ACADEMY, (formally Playful Peacock) the first school of its kind in the Twin Cities, was founded by Ophelia Flame and Gina Louise, who have been performing together since 2003 and teaching burlesque workshops since 2005. The belief that there's a bit of show pony in all of us is the drive behind their mission: to teach burlesque technique, performance, and history while encouraging self-expression and body confidence, welcoming students of all levels and backgrounds. The Academy offers performance opportunities, bachelorette parties & special events. www.twincitesburlesqueacademy.com
