Explore burlesque techniques as you continue your journey in this series. Strut, shimmy, bump-n-grind, and much more! No dance experience necessary. Wear comfortable dance clothes and bring high heels.

About the Instructor:
BETTIE BEWARE is a life-long dancer, starting with tap and ballet as a child and continuing to study partner and social dancing as an adult. She found her way to burlesque through swing dancing and her appreciation for jazz music. Bettie began frequenting burlesque shows and took classes at the Playful Peacock Academy. She only planned to do one show but the audacious and glittery world of burlesque drew her in.

Bettie is a member of the Peacock Showgirls and Gina Louise and the Ladyslippers. She is also a co-producer of The Peacock Cabaret. She has taught beginning ballroom and swing and participated in other group fitness training. Bettie hopes to share her love of movement and radical body positivity for an inclusive and fun class!

Formerly known as The Playful Peacock Academy, THE TWIN CITIES BURLESQUE ACADEMY is Minnesota's the first school of its kind. Founded by Ophelia Flame and Gina Louise who have been performing together since 2003 and teaching burlesque workshops since 2005. The belief that there's a bit of showpony in all of us is the drive behind their mission: to teach burlesque technique, performance, and history while encouraging self-expression and body confidence, welcoming students of all levels and backgrounds.
