Come and hear the compelling rhythms of the traditional music of the indigenous people of North Africa right here in St. Louis. Fattah and Mohamed will introduce you to this entrancing music, with stories and songs played on several traditional instruments. THIS IS A FAMILY FRIENDLY EVENT. THERE WILL BE OPEN SPACES ON THE FLOOR FOR CHILDREN TO SIT, AND DANCE, IF THEY FEEL LIKE IT!
Fattah Abbou and Mohamed (Moha) are Berbers(Imazighan) from the high Atlas mountain region of Morocco. Their music brings to light the culture of the Berbers, the indigenous people of North Africa whose recorded history 3300 years. Recognized as master musicians, Fattah and Moha formed Aza after moving to Santa Cruz, CA. They both play many instruments, sing and compose. Fattah has received multiple grant awards for traditional arts and the preservation of indigenous culture. Fluent in English, French, Arabic and his native tongue (Tamazight). He is a sought after music and cultural educator, presenting at schools and universities throughout the U.S.
