Seattle Peace Chorus presents Beethoven's "Missa Solemnis: Music Overcomes Adversity"
The Seattle Peace Chorus is proud to present "Beethovens Missa Solemnis: Music Overcomes Adversity" to commemorate the 250th year since his birth. In recognition that Beethoven lost his hearing at age 29 and famously continued to compose some of the worlds greatest music, Seattle Peace Chorus is reaching out to members of the hard-of-hearing community and providing for them in this concert by creating a visual display to illuminate the highlights of the work. We plan to have a pre-concert educational program on the life and times of Beethoven, and have American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters at the concerts.
Beethovens Missa Solemnis is a major choral work that is scored for full orchestra, chorus, and four soloists (soprano, alto, tenor, bass). The orchestra includes 12 string players, 2 horns, 2 trumpets, 3 trombones, timpani, and double winds.
