goldfiishie - the despedida tour with daniel durst & unknown caller
goldfiishie, a Filipinx artist based in Chicago IL, is saying sayonara to the US (for now). The despedida tour, which means farewell in Tagalog, is to celebrate the good times and amazing people she's met throughout her journey here. Join us for a night of great music at Areté Venue and Gallery on 7/20/19 830-1030pm. Performances by the following stellar acts:

Daniel Durst, an improvising bassist and composer from San Francisco, moved to New York in 2011 to attend the New School where he studied with Ben Street, Bob Cranshaw, and Jane Ira Bloom. Known for his soft touch and meditative approach to improvisation, Daniel brings his musical personality across a variety of genres from jazz to noise to indie rock. He has played at the Bern Jazz Festival in Switzerland and has worked as a sideman in various clubs throughout New York. Daniel is also a member of some of New Yorks most creative rock and punk bands.

Unknown Caller is a midnight pop artist based in Brooklyn, NY. Inspired by city pop and the Memphis design movementhe delivers smooth grooves underneath sun-faded synths and shimmering guitars. It's All Indie described his single "Sayonara," as, "Equal parts mystical 80s hit and cutting edge indie pop. Sayonara paints vivid colourful imagery in both sound and narrative that takes you on a trip through the ages of iconic pop sounds. With such a robust vision, Unknown Caller deserves the top spot on your radar."

Singer songwriter goldfiishie is a Filipinx-Chinese island girl and artist. She was born and raised in Manila and moved to Chicago, where the thriving music scene and a thirst for home inspired her to to dive into music. Through glittering synths, eerie vocal harmonies, and sultry lyricism, she swims in waters of dark electronic pop. Lost Control, her first single off her upcoming EP Our Own Universe, features unique vocal samples looped with electric textures, creating a dense atmosphere of mystery and lust. A collection of love songs at its core, the EP also plays with concepts of understanding, connection, and power, harnessing sounds that are inspired by fantasy and the supernatural and bringing you into a world of her own.
