The Freedom of Air
Synopsis
The Freedom of Air
Rome, 1515. Leonardo da Vinci, while vital, is nearing the end of his career. His benefactor, The Pope, assigns him a lazy and aloof aide, Giorgio, to help the master with his work. Giorgio is dissatisfied with his job as Leonardo requires him to assist in dangerous flying machine trials and in the practice of dissecting corpses for the purpose of understanding anatomy. Giorgio undermines Leonardo's authority and impedes his progress, and then threatens Leonardo's patronage by exposing the experimental and controversial nature of Leonardo's work to the Pope. Though enraged by Giorgio's duplicity, Leonardo reveals to Giorgio the prospect of a more engaged life.
