Thank you for the overwhelming expressions of interest for Building Convergence!

WHAT
Over the July 4th weekend, we will spend 2.5 days together learning the skills and having the conversations that are essential to our collective thriving for both right now and for the future.

We will create transformative spaces for folks to share and learn skills around building a new world in three key ways:

1) Physically: Build environmentally sustainable homes that can house the revolution
2) Socially: Build healing and transformative relationships with each other and the land
3) Politically: Build shared visions about a new liberating world we can create here and now

WHY
Lets be real - our society is spiraling towards more explicit fascism, more deadly racism and patriarchy, and is facing the mounting existential threat of ecological crisis.

The idea of building a new world in the shell of the old has never seemed more necessary.

And we have all the medicine we need within us. We just need to bring our collective wisdom together and start building the conditions necessary for us to move forward together.

HOW
This gathering is meant to bring together folks who want to learn and share skills for liberation in an inclusive and grounding space.

As such, this space was made with women, queer folx, Black people, and People of Color in mind. We believe that by shifting the focus on multiple marginalized people, we can more effectively create spaces where everyone is welcome.

We will do this by:
- Building spaces for ourselves to become healthy and whole outside the logic of capitalism, patriarchy, and white supremacy
- Exploring the possibility of healing from the effects of anti-Blackness by transforming our relationship to a farmland that was once a plantation with enslaved Black people
- Re-conceptualizing construction from the masculine, able-bodied perspective to a more accessible and inclusive idea of building rooted in ecological sustainability and mutual aid
- Offering skill-shares on the basics of construction that are femme friendly
- Healing spaces to decolonize our understanding of gender and learn social and emotional building skills

ACCESSIBILITY
In addition to our radical sliding scale, we want to make this event accessible to people by offering the following support:
- Transportation between DC and the farm
- Camping gear
- Food for people with dietary restrictions
- Child care for families
- ASL interpretation

After registration, you will receive a Support Request Form where you can both ask for support and offer support to make this event accessible for all who wish to participate.

Please note that the majority of participants should expect to camp on the farmland. If you cannot sleep in a tent and require a bed, please let us know in the Support Request Form since we do have a couple beds available for those who need it.

WHEN
Friday July 5th, 5PM-10PM
Saturday July 6th, 10AM-10PM
