End Game Screening and Community Discussion
End Game weaves together three stories of visionary medical providers who practice on the cutting edge of life and death. This core group of caregivers in San Francisco sees it differently. They are dedicated to relieving suffering, and to changing the way we think aboutand make choices abouthow we live our lives as we near lifes end. Their commitment is vividly embodied in their interactions with their terminally ill patients. These intimate and often highly charged emotional momentswith caregivers, patients, and patients families and loved onesare at the heart of End Game.

End Game lays bare what happens in a medical environment during the last stages of life. The film shows how these experiences can be positively addressed. However, this reliance on the medical profession to discuss end of life issues often leaves us with unanswered questions and a less than positive death experience for ourselves and our loved ones.

After viewing the film, and discussing what the end-of-life can be, our panel will open a dialogue with the audience regarding these questions:

1.   How can we prepare our communities prior to being in this medical environment?
2.   How do we structure ongoing dialogues in our own communities, families, churches, and other faith communities concerning end of life?
3.   What can we think of doing that is not focused on the hospital or other environments where people are already feeling disadvantaged?
4.  Death is not linear and when we talk about death, do we look at it from other peoples experiences?  How does culture play into those choices?
