Voices on the Green - My Best Mistake
Voices on the Green, First Parish's series of live performances centered around themes that explore our human experience, continues its third year with 'My Best Mistake.
The philosopher Daniel Dennett says: The chief trick to making good mistakes is not to hide themespecially not from yourself.
On Friday, May 10, the First Parish program series, Voices on the Green, takes on the inevitable human experience of making mistakes. Should we be adventurous, take chances, put forth ideas that are not yet proven? During the creative process, mistakes can lead us to new truths and understandings. Or should we do everything we can to avoid mistakes because they can ruin everything, and we may appear stupid and incompetent?
Doors open at 6:30 for refreshment and conversation. The program begins in the sanctuary at 7:00. Refreshments and drinks are served again at intermission, and the evening ends at 9:00 The program includes short TED-type talks, personal stories, and music on the theme.
This particular Voices will gather people of all ages in the sanctuary, and the music will feature the First Parish childrens choir, led by Rip Jackson, singing choral and solo music from Broadway to the Beatles including the song A Million Dreams from the Greatest Showman.
If youve ever wanted to know how a rocket scientist, or a legislator, or a parent might deal with a mistake, mark your calendars for May 10.
