FQ08 Workshop - Winds of Honor, The Enduring Legacy of the American Indian Flute
Join Gary Stroutsos in an engaging and interactive workshop sharing first hand stories and music. "Through the music of Winds of Honor we transcend cultures and peoples of the world". A celebration of 30 years of studies and recording of flute music from various cultures around the world.
"Flute music and ancient stories have given me a compassionate way to reveal to my audiences the unifying themes that connect us all to each other and to the past. Listening to tribal elders tell stories, discovering a world of ancient and modern flutes, and then retelling the stories and playing the flutes for audiences in concerts and classrooms has been my life for the past thirty years. Whether here or abroad, I have found that people of all ages instinctively know the universal and cultural connections between narrative and music: the timeless search for meaning and the desire for understanding."
Taught by Gary Stroutsos. Presented by Washington Flute Circle, www.waflutecircle.com.
