About the book:
In the languages of movement and place, The Memoir of Mona Lisa and Other Poems (Salmon Poetry) attends to the lines we draw but don't exist for gender, public and private, art and life, making and finding, gravity and joy. In the title sonnet sequence, imagined from research and long looking, Mona Lisa examines "the questions of / Form and perspective, surface and relationship" and reveals her relationship with her husband and her husband's male lover.

About the artists:
Su Love is the author of six collections of poetry; she previously published as Su Smallen. Her work has been recognized with, notably, the Jane Kenyon Poetry Prize and residencies with the St. Croix Watershed Research Station and Tofte Lake Center in Minnesota and the Unamuno Author Series in Madrid. Su Love is a fiscal year 2019 recipient of an Artist Initiative grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
Leila Awadallah received a 2016 Sage Award for Outstanding Design for dance film, among many awards and grants. She has been dancing with Ananya Dance Theatre since 2013. She has a BFA in Dance from the University of Minnesota, and a minor in Asian Language and Literature with a focus on Arabic Studies.
Becky Heist holds a BFA from the University of Utah and a MFA from the University of Illinois in Dance. She developed and directed the Dance Program at Macalester College from 1980 to 2013, creating over thirty dances for student/faculty concerts as well as choreographing numerous opera and theater projects. Along with mentoring student choreographers, she taught Dance Composition, Dance Film and Modern technique. Following retirement, Becky served on the board of Young Dance for four years, choreographing Currents on the company. She performed with Off-Leash Area in 2017 and with Paula Mann in 2018. She has an ongoing collaboration with the Christopher Watson Dance Company as a performer and choreographer. Heist and Watson present an annual dance film festival, Dance Flicks, under the sponsorship of the Twin Cities Dance Film Fest. Two of her dance films, Decorah Boys and Terrain, were selected for screenings at the University of Illinois and in the Sans Souci festival in Boulder, Colorado.
Judith Howard is the director of the Dance Program at Carleton College and previously taught at Macalester College. Judith has made dances, performed and taught in the Twin Cities for 30 years. Her work has been presented nationally and internationally and in Twin Cities venues such as the Walker Art Center, The Southern Theater, the Tek Box, and 9x22 Dance/Lab. In 2006, she performed and taught in Yaroslavl, Russia where her work was presented by Link Vostak. Judith was selected "Twin Cities Best Choreographer" in 2005 and is the recipient of several Jerome Foundation Grants, a McKnight Choreographic Fellowship, a Sage Award for "Outstanding Performance" with April Sellers (2006), and a Sage Award for "Outstanding Dance Educator" (2014). In 2016 she was honored with a Sage Award for "Outstanding Performer." Her professional career accomplishments include co-founding and directing the award-winning dance company, The Flying Sisters Theater. Judith's early dance training included studying with Erik Hawkins and Twyla Tharp. Her dance training also includes Body Mind Centering, release technique, Laban Movement Analysis, Contact Improvisation, Mask (Sears Eldredge/Lecoq), Authentic Movement and Craniosacral Therapy. Judith holds an MFA in Performance/Choreography from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Christopher Watson is the director of the Christopher Watson Dance Company. He began dance study at the Houston Ballet Academy and subsequently trained with the Chicago Moving Company and at the Merce Cunningham and Joffrey Ballet studios in New York. Christopher then received a Master of Fine Arts in dance from the University of Michigan. From 1978-1982, he co-directed the Dance Theatre 2 Company and School in Ann Arbor, MI. As associate director of American Inroads and Theater Artaud in San Francisco, he produced a wide range of dance, music, and theater events, including the concert premiere of John Adam's Opera Nixon in China, a concert version of Phillip Glass' Liquid Days with Linda Ronstadt, and the first annual Black Choreographers Moving showcase, as well as performances by noted artists Bebe Miller, Susan Marshall, Stephen Petronio, and the Kronos Quartet, among many others. Christopher was a member of the New Dance Ensemble of Minneapolis and has performed with the Chicago Moving Company, Harbinger Dance Company of Detroit, and Joanna Haigood's Zaccho company in San Francisco, dancing in works by Pearl Lang, David Gordon, Dan Wagoner, Linda Shapiro, Kathryn Posin, Doris Humphrey, and Margaret Jenkins, among others. He founded the Christopher Watson Dance Company in Sacramento, CA in 1991.
