Synapse Arts - New Works
New Works brings together fresh voices for an evening of creative performances in an intimate venue. See a compelling evening of original pieces by LOUD BODIES (Maria Blanco and Yariana Baralt Torres), Amanda Ramirez, Nora Sharp, and Synapse Director Rachel Damon.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The Synapse Arts - New Works program supports independent dance-based artists, helping them to build their skills and develop their individual styles as they create original performance pieces. Each artist receives a dedicated mentor, rehearsal space, and a budget to help them through the creative process, which culminates in two professionally-produced concerts. The program reflects the founding principles of 14-year-old Synapse Arts, aiming to connect artists with one another to share resources and develop their unique voices.

ABOUT THE WORKS
LOUD BODIES' piece explores ideas of sexuality and what it means to be a sexual being. Their research blends identity, sexuality, gender, and investigates how society chooses to perceive it. The work promotes authenticity and individual sexual expression.
Featuring Dee Alaba, Phoebe Coakley, Camila Rivero Pooley, Marceia Scruggs

Amanda Ramirez - "The Three Vacillations"
The Three Vacillations is a dance piece exploring the ideas and environments surrounding the concept of choice, decision, or lack thereof.
Featuring Kimberly Baker, Hayley Barker, Monica Carrow, Christina Chammas, Kaitlyn Dessoffy, Jordan Kunkel

Nora Sharp - "Family Portrait"
"Family Portrait" is a space for gender expansive people to be together and to amplify each other through generous witness, opening to difference as much as solidarity.
Featuring ALEXA GRÆ, Christina Chammas, Doreen Vanunu, Maliyah Londyn Arnold, Robin Lee

Rachel Damon - "Leverage"
A series of episodic dances in which four performers use handheld lamps to reveal moments of leverage. Cropping up throughout the concert, these short episodes include comedic moments, striking visuals, and unique uses of the theater space to shed light on the making of an artistic life while facing embodied challenges.
Featuring Amanda Ramirez, Dylan Roth, Gretchen Soechting, Laura Tennal
