Living in a predominantly hetero-normative and gender binaried society presents a unique set of factors for Transgender and Non-Binary folx. Internalized shame and stigma, rejection and discrimination continue to be persistently pervasive. These risks are particularly compounded for Trans* and Non-Binary people of color.  Join Fresh and Phoenix for this interactive workshop that places the presenters' personal stories within our wider societal and cultural contexts. Participants will leave the workshop with a deeper understanding and concrete tools for working with Trans* and Non-Binary people of color that integrate non-Western healing modalities with both traditional therapy.

Join Niki as she untangles some of the mystery of what is Intersex and what it means to be Intersex.  This workshop will explore the history of Intersex activism and the ways in which the sex binary results in traumas for Intersex individuals; traumas that are further compounded by factors such as race, gender and sexual orientation. We will also look at the ways Intersex individuals and communities have fostered healing, empowerment, and support for themselves and how mental health providers can align themselves with and support these practices.
