The Magic Soup and Other Stories is the story of a young man who arrives home to a ringing phone: Uncle Murray is coming over for dinner, but there's no food in sight! After invoking great-grandpa Hershel, the man's shabby apartment transforms to reveal the world of traditional Yiddish folktales. Klezmer music sets the mood as puppet characters spring from every dusty corner and empty cereal box. Cabinets open to reveal a shadow screenthe village market of Ostropol. The stories leave scraps of themselves behind, and as all the pieces make their way into the soup pot, the young man discovers what it truly is to savor a good story.
The Magic Soup and Other Stories features innovative solo performance with tabletop, glove, and shadow puppets. It is suitable for all audiences with a taste for traditional theatrical storytelling.
