Sarah Austin Jenness & Katie Cappiello Expert Panel-Podcast--presented by #HealMeToo Festival
PERFORMS:
Thurs 4/11 at 12:30 pm

LENGTH OF SHOW: 1 hour

At IRT Theater:
154 Christopher St. NYC (west of Hudson)
Buzzer 3B (third floor)

In a live taping for the #HealMeToo Festival Podcast, Festival Founder and Artistic Director Hope Singsen will interview two experts in the art of personal storytelling:

--Sarah Austin Jenness, Executive Producer of The Moth -- a 21 year old arts organization and home of The Moth Radio Hour, The Moth Podcast, and over 600 live storytelling events worldwide each year, and

--Playwright Katie Cappiello, whose plays about teen sexuality, based on their own first-hand accounts, have been widely praised and toured.

Together, Jenness and Cappiello have decades of experience working with people to tell brave personal stories, often for the first time. They will share examples and observations about how the process of expressing, crafting, and sharing deeply personal stories, including stories of sexual and gendered violence, can be life-changing not only for the teller--but for listeners, too.

Note: Excerpts from Cappiello's plays SLUT and Now That We're Men will be performed on the Festival's Opening Night: NYC Teens Take the Stage, as well as in a variety show at the Festival, titled: Lost / Found.

PLEASE DONATE TO IRT THEATER

IRT Theater is a grassroots laboratory for independent theater and performance in New York City, providing space and support to a new generation of artists. Tucked away in the old Archive Building in Greenwich Village, IRTs mission is to build a community of emerging and established artists by creating a home for the development and presentation of new work. Some of the artists we have supported include Young Jean Lee, Reggie Watts and Mike Daisey.

This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, New York State Council on the Arts and The Nancy Quinn Fund, a project of ART-NY.

PLEASE NOTE: All sales final and there is no late seating at IRT Theater.
