The Pussy Grabber Plays & Activist Training--presented by #HealMeToo Festival
PERFORMS:
Tues 4/2 at 7pm

LENGTH OF SHOW: 2 hours

At IRT Theater:
154 Christopher St. NYC (west of Hudson)
Buzzer 3B (third floor)

A reading directed by Charlotte Arnoux, followed by a #HealMeToo Award presentation to Mattress Performance (Carry That Weight) trailblazing survivor activist Emma Sulkowicz, plus activist training!

#HealMeToo Festival Managing Producer Charlotte Arnoux will direct a reading of four of The Pussy Grabber Plays, inspired by the women who came forward to tell their stories of Trumps sexual assaults.

Immediately following the performance, the Festival will present an award to Emma Sulkowicz, famed for their Mattress Performance (Carry That Weight) at Columbia University, which spurred global headlines and rallied students nationwide to demand better sexual violence policies.

Well conclude with interactive activist training that will guide each of us in using our own stories to effectively push for change in our communities and at any level of government.

The Pussy Grabber Plays is a theatrical production comprised of a series of short plays inspired by interviews with these women, created by some of the most highly acclaimed young women writing for theater today, At #HealMeToo festival, we will present plays by: Halley Feiffer (Im Gonna Pray For You So Hard), Sharyn Rothstein (By The Water), Julia Brownell (NBCs This Is Us), and Sam Chanse (Trigger, Fruiting Bodies).

Content warning: Some descriptions of sexual violence.

IRT Theater is a grassroots laboratory for independent theater and performance in New York City, providing space and support to a new generation of artists. Tucked away in the old Archive Building in Greenwich Village, IRTs mission is to build a community of emerging and established artists by creating a home for the development and presentation of new work. Some of the artists we have supported include Young Jean Lee, Reggie Watts and Mike Daisey.

This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, New York State Council on the Arts and The Nancy Quinn Fund, a project of ART-NY.
