Foodopoly book signing and discussion with author Wenonah Hauter & Glynwood's Kathleen Frith

Join the Executive Director of Food and Water Watch, Wenonah Hauter, along with Glynwood President Kathleen Frith in an intimate discussion about Ms. Hauter's new book 'Foodopoly- The Battle Over the Future of Food and Farming in America'.

Attendees receive a copy of the book and a first-hand account of the business behind the meat, vegetables, grains and milk that most Americans eat.

Through meticulous research, Hauter presents a shocking account of how agricultural policy has been hijacked by lobbyists, driving out independent farmers and food processors in favor of the likes of Cargill, Tyson, Kraft, and ConAgra. She demonstrates how the impacts ripple far and wide, from economic stagnation in rural communities at home, to famines in poor countries overseas. In the end, Hauter illustrates how solving this crisis will require a complete structural shift, a grassroots movement to reshape our food system from seed to tablea change that is about politics, not just personal choice.

Kathleen Frith is President of Glynwood, one of the nation's leading sustainable agriculture and food organizations, located in Cold Spring, New York. In addition to growing vegetables and raising pastured livestock on a 225-acre farm, Glynwood has developed a number of innovative programs that enhance the viability of farming, train the next generation of farmers, foster emerging markets for distinctive regional products, as well as train culinary professionals to become stewards of the land.

Wenonah Hauter is the Executive Director of Food & Water Watch, a D.C.-based watchdog organization focused on corporate and government accountability relating to food, water, and fishing. She has worked and written extensively on food, water, energy, and environmental issues at the national, state, and local levels. She owns a working farm in The Plains, Virginia.
