The Prohibition Project
In a country divided, there is a battle being waged over who gets to be called an American. Workers are striking, immigrants are coming and the Democratic Party has too many candidates for the upcoming convention. It is the end of the Roaring 1920s and everyone knows the world is about to change. But whose change will win out?  Wild women with short hair versus sober men with dark clothes. Irish Democrats versus Jewish Socialists. Dano versus The Golden Kid. And everyone is on the take.

The Prohibition Project mixes the familiar icons of the gangsters and the flappers with the lesser known socialists and politicians to create an immersive mosaic of America's wildest times.  Wander a vintage dream of illicit cocktails, smokey torch songs, and political intrigue.

Created using the real history of Troy mixed with the mythos of the American Gangster to craft a one-of-a-kind, choose-your-own-adventure experience, The Prohibition Project invites you to party with us at the end of an era.

Troy Foundry Theatre is proud to commission Die-Cast of Philadelphia for the co-creation of a new site-specific immersive performance piece, unfolding the underground subculture of alcohol and speakeasies in Troy, NY during Prohibition.  The company will take residency at Collar Works in Troy for the development and performance of this new work. As usual, your experience will be unusual.  Anticipate nothing.  All things are possible.  Come with an open mind. Directed by Brenna Geffers.

The Prohibition Project is sponsored by Collar Works and Stewart's Shops.

About Die-Cast:
Die-Cast was founded by Brenna Geffers and Thom Weaver. Rather than following a traditional subscription model, Die-Cast incubates work within spaces that are normally inaccessible to audiences. They look to fill those spaces with the work and have the work shaped by the space in turn. Die-Cast uses opera, movement, text, design, installation - whatever tools that best craft the experience for our audiences. They create full-length works as well as pop-up experiences for audiences to explore.  For more info visit www.die-castphilly.org.
