Karan Casey comes to us again with some terrific support musicians and a new - and outstanding - CD called Hieroglyphics That Tell the Tell. Of course, most recently, a triumphant stint with Childsplay. She tells me she is soo looking forward to coming back to Boston.
See below for a sample from the CD. Down by the Glen. One of my favorite new songs of hers which tell of two women erased from Irish Revel History as many women were. A true story of strong women in a loving relationship at a time when it was of course, unacceptable and even more so by the Irish conservatism that took a hold after independence in 1922.
The Burren Backroom series is now well established as one of the most sought-after boutique series of trad presentation in the world. Hosted by Brian O'Donovan of A Celtic Sojourn on WGBH radio, these gatherings feature core performers from many aspects of traditional music as well as special guests, and conversations around the music. As is the custom of the Burren, it is anticipated informal and dynamic post concert sessions will be a feature.
