Wow! Each of these musicians separately and in other combinations, have awed us at the Backroom before. Quinn as part of the Jeremy Kittell Trio and Brishen, and Haley, well in many iterations including most recently with Keith Murphy, and Joey Abarta. Can't wait to see these two true phenoms together.
Before the age of 12, both Haley and Quinn were winning awards and recognition nationally and internationally. Their immersion in Celtic and American roots music is palpable through their instrumental mastery and together, they bring a passionate, youthful energy to this fiddle tradition. While they don't have any video's of them playing together, here are some separate tracks that might pique your interest.
And making this an incredible night of music, we have The new Berklee allstar bluegrass band, The Ruta Beggars opening up. Oh wow! The Ruta Beggars are a band rooted in traditional bluegrass music, but bend the genre to incorporate the eclectic tastes of the group. Take a look below...
The Burren Backroom series is now well established as one of the most sought-after boutique series of trad presentation in the world. It has already created already dozens of memorable, intimate, informal presentations held in a truly atmospheric space which was founded by well-known traditional musicians Tommy McCarthy and Louise Costello in Davis Square, Somerville, Massachusetts.
Hosted by Brian O'Donovan of A Celtic Sojourn on WGBH radio, these gatherings feature core performers from many aspects of traditional music as well as special guests, and conversations around the music. As is the custom of the Burren, it is anticipated informal and dynamic post concert sessions will be a feature.
