Diaspora Monologues: Wearing Africa
Whether Ethiopian Habesha dress, West African ankara and kente prints or East African inspired bead jewelry, African fashion is everywhere and on everyone. The 2019 Diaspora Monologues: Wearing Africa will explore the social and cultural performance of wearing Africa in Diaspora. The performance series will embellish upon the traditional fashion show concept by collecting and staging the stories of African designers, wearers, and bloggers who are re-dressing Africa in the global imagination.
