Medicare Counselor Training: Open Enrollment Period Special Edition
Avisery is holding a Medicare Counselor Training: Open Enrollment Period Special Edition on October 18, 2019 from 9:00 am to 4:45 pm at our Oak Park office. We are pleased to announce that we will be offering 6 CEU credits at this training. The last day to register for the training is October 14th!
Training Description:
This one day workshop is designed to train professionals in how to help consumers enroll in Medicare coverage that best suits their needs. The trainings are geared towards professionals new to the field of counseling older adults and people with disabilities on their healthcare benefit options. The training is also beneficial for professionals who need a refresher on healthcare benefits and a description of the Medicare changes currently affecting consumers.
This training will provide important updates about the Open Enrollment Period as well as an introduction to:
Medicare Parts A and B
Medicare Savings Programs
Medicare Advantage
Medicare Supplement plans
Medicare Part D
and the Extra Help/Low-Income Subsidy Program
Registration/ Training Fee
If you are a SHIP counselor or volunteer you may be able to attend our training at no cost! We have a limited number of scholarships that will waive the $75 registration fee for Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) counselors who work for certain community based and/or a government agency in Cook County. Please email Avisery@ageoptions.org with your name, phone number, and agency information to see if you qualify for a scholarship; preference will be given to SHIP volunteers.
The cost for our Medicare and Medicaid Counselor Trainings are grant subsidized for certain community-based agencies. If you work for a community-based nonprofit or government agency and would like to attend the Medicare Counselor Training at a discounted rate of $75 please email Avisery@ageoptions.org with your name, phone number, and agency information to see if you are eligible to receive the coupon code.
There is a $350 fee for representatives of for-profit organizations, health insurance plans, health care providers, hospitals (including nonprofit hospitals), or membership organizations to attend the Medicare Counselor Training.
The Training fee includes:
6 CEU credits for the full day of training.
An Open Enrollment Period packet that includes information on the plan finder, 2020 benefit parameters and more!
An interactive based training on Medicare topics, including presentations provided by the AgeOptions team, interactive case studies and activities to practice your knowledge, and opportunities to ask your difficult client questions and receive follow up assistance after the training.
A training binder that includes all presentation handouts, helpful reference charts, guides, and fact sheets to assist you in client counseling.
Light breakfast in the morning and refreshments throughout the training.
Important Training Guidelines:
All participants are expected to attend the entire day of training.
In order to make this an accessible event for all and accommodate attendees with sensitivities or allergies to fragrances, we ask that you please refrain from bringing or wearing products that emit fragrances or scents.
