The Killer B's: Bach, Beethoven, Brahms
Don't miss the first concert in our 4 concert classical chamber music series:
Renewing Our Vows: Something Old.
Denise Dillenbeck and company take on classic chamber works with various ensembles and concludes with Brahms Sextet #1 in G major - a work of youth, adventure, a soupçon of militarism, and the boundless confidence of a composer finding his powers. One of Brahms finest chamber works.
Prior to the concert, there will be a meet and greet in the gallery with snacks, beverages, and conversation with the musicians starting at 3:15 PM.
Program:
Bach Cello Suite for unaccompanied Cello; TBA - Denika Kleinmann, Cello (20 min)
A demonstration of Bach's uncanny ability to fill the hall with with a single string instrument. You would swear there were at least two or three cellos and violas playing together! The natural acoustics of The Seasons bring out the rich warmth of the cello like almost no other instrument.
Beethoven Duo for violin and Cello - Allion Salvador and Johannes Kleinmann (10 min)
All the drama, rhythm, playfulness and intense conversation that can be packed into a duet. Beethoven at his most expressive and at the same time, most classical.
Intermission
Brahms String Sextet in G Major - Denise Dillenbeck, Allion Salvador: violins; Jenn Glenn Shoval, Kathryn Kibbe: violas; Denika Kleinmann, Johannes Kleinmann: cellos.
You can hardly help yourself from falling in love with this music. Rich melodies and harmonies interweave and often coalesce in an electrifying instant. Brahms was at his best (IMHO) when dealing with multiple interweaving voices, saturated in harmonies, mercurial in the facets they rapidly display like a shimmering cloak.
We are fortunate to have so many fine musicians from the Yakima Symphony Orchestra to interpret this music and reveal its many facets. Don't miss this.
