FQ08 Concert - Ancient Sounds & Jan Michael Looking Wolf Concert
We invite you to join us Saturday evening for a Flute Quest 2008 fantastic concert with Ancient Sounds opening for Jan Michael Looking Wolf.
Jan Michael Looking Wolf, a Kalapuya Native American with Irish descent, has become an accomplished recording artist with 14 CDs and 2 DVDs recorded on various indie record labels. Jan has earned 19 National Award Nominations--5 for Best Flutist--and a top ten ranking in the 2007 national New Age Charts. We've just been informed that he has received a nomination for Best Flute CD 2008 from the ISMA Music Awards for his album Unity. His prior work with the native flute ranges from Solo Flute, blues, jazz, classical, to Indie Rock with a full band.
In concert, Jan Michael offers songs that reflect his experience as a native and just how diverse the native flute can be. The message in Jan Michael's music is loud and clear - Equity for ALL people, regardless of color, heritage, gender, or race. His music supports Cultural Diversity and speaks to the heart of Unity.
Opening for Jan Michael is the Seattle-based band Ancient Sounds. Ancient Sounds creates inspiring, heart-felt music themes ranging from ethnic world music through melodic light jazz. Japanese Shakuhachi, Chinese, Native American, South American, East Indian, Irish/Celtic and other World Flutes and Whistles, as well as Didgeridoos and other Ancient Winds are among the core elements bringing expressive, often exotic impact to their songs. The ancient wind instruments are interwoven with ethnic percussion, piano, keyboards, synthesizer, guitar and amazing vocals.
