The Concert for Mr. Mathis
The Concert for Mr. Mathis - A Night of Celebration and Appreciation with Army of Freshmen, Adam Mcdonough, Stellar Mojo, Old School and special guests and friends of Mr.  Mathis!

On Saturday, July 13, 2013, students, faculty and alumni of LCMR will band together for an evening of celebration and appreciation to help raise funds for a beloved teacher.

Paul J. Mathis has been an English teacher at Lower Cape May Regional High School and the director of the school's theater program and musicals for over 30 years. He's the type of teacher whose unwavering passion and spirit has influenced thousands of students over the years, many of whom have gone onto their own career in the arts.

Now, those same students, faculty and alumni whom Mr. Mathis has influenced have spontaneously come together to hold a night of celebration and appreciation for their teacher and friend, who is currently experiencing medical issues.

Headlining the benefit concert will be Ventura, California's Army of Freshmen, an internationally known rock band that was formed by Cape May born and raised Chris Jay, a graduate of LCMR. Army of Freshmen have performed over 1,500 shows in 15 countries and 43 states, have been heard and seen in several films and TV shows and recently released their critically acclaimed 5th full length record.

"I can honestly say that Mr. Mathis is the most influential teacher and mentor I've ever had", explains Jay. "He has been an inspiration throughout my career, and I am humbled to be a part of this celebration by bringing out Army of Freshmen to take part in it. It's going to be a very special night with that much love, positive energy and friends in one place, and no one deserves such recognition right now more than Mr. Mathis."

The bill also includes LCMR alumni, Adam Mcdonough, a burgeoning singer songwriter now based in the New York City area, as well as Stellar Mojo, the popular South Jersey band that features LCMR alumni, along with, Old School, an all teacher band featuring some of Mr. Mathis' closest friends.

The night will also feature a guest appearance by Jeff Coon, an LCMR graduate who has gone onto fame in the world of theater and first worked under Mr. Mathis in several high school musicals.

In addition, several LCMR alumni will be presenting a dance tribute to Mr. Mathis featuring a medley of past musicals and the night will also feature a massive array of raffle prizes.

It promises to be a special event to honor a man who has spent his life giving so much.

Donations, as well as raffle prizes, are greatly appreciated. Please contact Mr. J's Music Shop at 609-886- 4646 for more information.

Proceeds from the event to benefit the Mathis Family and the Love of Linda Fund.
