Poised and polished, "Santa Barbara", the debut full length from Toronto, ONs After Funk unfolds with an ease and elegance rare among even seasoned veterans. Drawing from a broad base, Santa Barbara nods to R&B, disco, jazz, soul, Latin, and, well, funk. Nothing feels contrived; these myriad modalities are stylistic colors in their compositional palette. Tastefully constructed, in-the-pocket melodic explorations give way to shimmering ballads. Sweat-soaked dance-floor rave-ups collapse into syncopated contrapuntal breakdowns. All-in-all, After Funk emerged from the studio with an imminently engaging, fully-wrought record that takes the listener by the hand and sprints off into a heady journey. Laying itself bear with a well-earned confidence, Santa Barbara is nuanced, articulate, and profoundly satisfying.

AFTER FUNK (TO)
After Funk is a fun-filled, soul driven, power funk explosion. Hailed as "The grooviest band north of the border" (Live for Live Music), the Toronto based funk family has been blazing a trail through the music scene leaving only happy hearts and dancing feet in their wake. The combination of Yanick Allwood (keyboards & vocals), Jaime Rosenberg (drums), Justin Bontje (bass), and Phil Tessis (guitar) results in an infectiously fun show, as well as virtuosity and beauty that will challenge your musical mind. After Funk's sound and hard work have not gone unnoticed either. They were selected as the Electric Forest's Instrumental Forester, which earned them two sets at the festival in 2014. The band has featured alongside other familiar artists like Lettuce, Snarky Puppy, Dumpstaphunk, Kung Fu, The Nth Power and Walk Off the Earth. But if you truly want to find out what comes after the funk, you'll just have to come experience it for yourself!
