Droma Fest 08 presents Frank London, Red Baraat Festival + DJ Joro-Boro
The Droma Gypsy Festival 2008 will bring over a dozen Gypsy and Gypsy-influenced artists from Europe and the US to NYC for 9 days of colorful Gypsy spirit (Sept 24 Oct 3). In its 4th year running, the festival will once again present the breadth of contemporary Gypsy music from all over the world with a line-up that includes bands which preserve the original musical forms as well as others that mix it up with electronica, jazz, dub and European-style cabaret.
Frank London is trumpeter, bandleader, composer and one of the most prominent American musicians active in klezmer music today. Red Baraat FESTIVAL brings the energy and excitement found at Indian weddings with percussion, horns, and the rhythm of the dhol performing Punjabi songs, classic Bollywood numbers and fresh originals. DJ Joro-Boro is the originator of the Balkan-Disco-Bomba sounds with the most diverse collection of trans-Eastern European folk and remix sounds in town.
Doors open at 6 pm.
