Droma Fest 08 presents Mames Babaganoush & Eastern Blok + DJ Dunkelbunt
The Droma Gypsy Festival 2008 will bring over a dozen Gypsy and Gypsy-influenced artists from Europe and the US to NYC for 9 days of colorful Gypsy spirit (Sept 24 Oct 3). In its 4th year running, the festival will once again present the breadth of contemporary Gypsy music from all over the world with a line-up that includes bands which preserve the original musical forms as well as others that mix it up with electronica, jazz, dub and European-style cabaret.
Mames Babaganoush are from Denmark and play in the Jewish Klezmer tradition mixed with Serbian horn arrangements. Eastern Blok, from Serbia via Chicago, is a high-energy band that play Balkan folk jazz and Klezmer. DJ Dunkelbunt is an Austrian DJ & artist who has achieved critical acclaim for his productions that incorporate Balkan and gypsy beats.
Doors open at 6 pm.
