2nd Annual Boothbay Harbor Fest
The weekend kicks off on Friday afternoon with a 'Harbor Crawl' from 4pm-7pm in downtown Boothbay Harbor.  92 Moose Radio will broadcast live as 'Crawlers' follow a map to shops, restaurants and inns all over town, where they can eat, drink, shop and be merry.  The Harbor Crawl is free and all ages are welcome.  Area businesses will also participate in a Harbor Fest Fall Display Contest and visitors will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite display.

Festivities continue on Saturday from 9am-3pm in the Waterfront Whale Park on Commercial Street in downtown Boothbay Harbor.  Admissions is free and featured events include an Eco-Art Show, a treasure hunt with a grand prize valued at $250, a Gimbel's Country Store Birthday Bash for the kiddos, live music presented by Portland's Dispatch Magazine, a Y Arts Performance and marine related activities by event beneficiary, Boothbay Sea and Science Center, {a nonprofit organization launched in 2013 with the mission of inspiring individuals to strengthen themselves and their community through the enjoyment of the sea}.

Harbor Fest moves to the Boothbay Harbor Shipyard from 4pm to 7pm, with the Return of the Dory Chowder & Chili Challenge.  Guests will enjoy the savory flavors of thirty local chefs and vote for their favorite.  The event will also feature tastings by local Brew masters at Boothbay Craft Brewery and Barefoot wines presented by Pine State Beverage.  The Peterson Project of New Gloucester, Maine will return for year two with Bluegrass music that had the entire Harbor Fest crowd dancing on the waterfront at sunset.
This portion of the Harbor Fest event is 21+ and ID's will be required to get in.  Tickets are $15 per person and include chowder and chili tasting, complimentary beer and wine tasting, music and dancing.  Event beneficiary, Boothbay Sea and Science Center will have desserts for sale and Darling's Ice Cream Truck for a Cause will be onsite as well, to raise funds for the BSSC.   Tickets must be purchased in advance and are on sale now at www.boothbayharborevents.com.

New this year is the Harbor Fest After Hours Party, presented by Portland's Dispatch Magazine.  Guests are invited to join the magazine crew at the Watershed Tavern in Boothbay, as they debut their new monthly event in the state of Maine, Classic Album Sundays.   The event is from 8pm-10pm and admission is free.  Light food and beverage will be available for purchase.

On Sunday morning join the Dyer Neck Gang in the first annual Harbor Fest 5k, as they run for their incredible goal to raise $10,000 for the Patrick Dempsey Challenge of the Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing.  The run begins at 10:00am at the Boothbay Craft Brewery and continues along Rt. 27, onto the scenic Adams Pond Road and looping back to the Brewery.  Registration information can be found at https://g2racereg.webconnex.com/boothbay5k2013.  A celebratory party will immediately follow the run with Bocce, BBQ, Beer and Band at the Watershed Tavern.  BBQ begins at 11:30am, $15pp; all are welcome.  The Rocktide Inn will offer complimentary trolley service from the brewery to town, throughout the 5k event.   Schooner Lazy Jack Cruises will offer 2 for 1 sails to Harbor Fest ticket holders all weekend, advance reservations are recommended, based on availability.

There will be a Harbor Fest Informational Meeting at Fisherman's Wharf Inn at 6pm on Monday, August 5th and all community members are welcome and encouraged to attend.  Harbor Fest participation is welcome on any level.    FMI visit www.boothbayharborevents.com or call Lori at (207) 671-7676.
