Blue Monarch Presents Amy Steinberg and Friends at NTCSL
Uplifting, enlightening and hilarious with a voice that can burn the house down, Amy Steinberg is singer, songwriter and storyteller like none other. The main thrust of her work comes from marrying the sacred and profane, fusing the dreamlike nature of spirit with the rooted realness of sexuality and humor. She plays the piano and guitar with her own swingy rhythmic bounce, injecting shades of jazz, rock, hip hop, and poetry, all with a theatrical flair. Deeply soulful, with her bombastic belt she sings of self-love, open-mindedness, and the holiness of everything. She recently completed recording "Intimate with the Infinite," her 5th independent full-length studio CD, which will be available at the show! Currently, in addition to travelling far and wide with her music, she is the musical director of the Spiritual Center of Charlotte where she features weekly and leads the One Love Choir.
"There are some things that can only be possible through divine intervention. And if you have any doubts about the existence of a Higher Power, Laura Berman's voice will shake you. Her voice isn't just that of an angel. There's a whole heavenly gospel choir channeling itself through that tiny frame. It's a wonder the force of it doesn't lift her off the ground..." - Jennifer Layton, Freelance Writer Originally hailing from the New York City singer/songwriter scene, Laura Berman has toured extensively nationwide as a solo artist and also as onehalf of the pop inspirational duo, 4 Stories High with her husband, songwriter/producer Craig Benelli. She has performed alongside authors Neale Donald Walsch and Marianne Williamson and at the Agape International Spiritual Center in Los Angeles. While in NYC, Laura was a back up vocalist for Grammy Award Winner, Enya on the David Letterman show and was also a featured vocalist in the children's feature film release, "Clifford's Really Big Movie" and accompanying Soundtrack. Laura can also be heard on the Dallas, Houston and Nashville medical reality show, "Best Docs", singing the theme song, Changing Lives. Now residing in Portland, Oregon, Laura is currently performing in the Pacific NW while in the final recording stages of her 3rd CD, upcoming CD, will be available at the show.
Since the age of thirteen, when she first learned how to play the guitar, gutsy singer-songwriter Nicole Sangsuree has been composing and performing songs to captive and enamored audiences all along the west coast, including festivals such as MusicfestNW, Folklife and the Willamette Valley Folk Festival. Her melodies are fresh, her lyrics intelligent and her soulful voice can move from fierce to tender in a brief moment. Her theater background and a passion for telling the truth color her live performances, which are always sexy, powerful and humorous. Onstage, she has been honored to play alongside musicians such as Styx, Alix Olson, Chris Pureka, Toshi Reagon and Michael Glabicki (of Rusted Root). Nicole is also an actor, starring in the indie feature films "Down and Out With the Dolls" and "Ruby by the River".
Born and raised in Portland, Nicole believes in the power of art to make positive social change and is a champion for supporting local, sustainable and thriving communities. She has volunteered at Portland's Rock 'N Roll Camp for Girls, taught songwriting classes for youth, frequently plays at Portland area farmer's markets and understands the value of supporting local talent. Her debut album "So Much Has Bloomed", recorded at Portland's Mississippi Studios, is available for purchase online at www.cdbaby.com and at her live performances.
