The Nutcracker

Come enjoy the celebrated holiday classic on December 7-8 at Spreckel's Performing Arts Center in Rohnert Park. The Nutcracker brings to life the beloved Christmas Eve story of a girls dream, with memorable music by Tchaikovsky. The performance is a unique collaboration between Contessi Ballet and Napa Valley Ballet and showcases dancers of all ages and abilities.

Marcella Contessi-Smith, artistic director of Contessi Ballet and founder of the North Bay Performing Arts Center, celebrates her fortieth year directing Contessi Ballet performances. Contessi-Smith is a centerpiece of the Sonoma County dance world, and has touched the lives of many dancers over the decades she has taught classical ballet in the community.

Halie Nelson will star as the principal role of Clara, joined by accomplished dancer Ryan Camou as the Prince. Nelson, 22, has been dancing at Contessi Ballet since she was two years old. She has performed many principal roles in large productions including Cinderella, The Magic Flute, Swan Lake, and The Nutcracker. Camou is a professional dancer with SOULSKIN Dance and has performed with San Francisco and Houston Ballet.

The North Bay Performing Arts Association sponsors the production. As a California non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, NBPAA is dedicated to providing performing arts opportunities for youth and adults in Sonoma County.
