The Guardian and the Museum of Tolerance
invite you and a guest to a special evening featuring three extraordinary new short documentaries.

THE GUARDIAN SHORTS
Thursday, November 1, 2018
7:30 pm at the Museum of Tolerance

BLACK SHEEP
Director: Ed Perkins. Produced by Simon Chinn and Jonathan Chinn - Lightbox
WINNER  Grand Jury Prize, Sheffield DocFest 2018
Everything changed for Cornelius Walker on the 27th November 2000 when Damilola Taylor was killed in what became one of the UKs most high-profile murder cases. Filmed with non-actors in the same locations where the real events took place 15 years ago, what follows is an extraordinary story of fractured identity and the things we do to survive.

LITTLE PYONGYANG
Director: Roxy Rezvany
WINNER  Best Short, The Smalls Film Festival
A stylized documentary that unveils the depths of loss, longing and a desire for legacy amongst a community of North Korean defectors who have escaped their homeland to live in a leafy London suburb. The film focuses on Joong-wha Choi, a former soldier in the DPRK.

SKIP DAY
Directors: Ivete Lucas & Patrick Bresnan
WINNER  Illy Prize, Cannes Film Festival 2018, Directors Fortnight
Proms over, the future is uncertain. The irresistible pull of the beach makes long-time friends from an industrial corner of the Everglades drive 60 miles to chill, pose and frolic.

Q&A to follow the screenings with Charlie Phillips, Head of Documentaries at The Guardian, and the filmmakers, moderated by Claire Aguilar, Director of Programming and Policy at the  International Documentary Association (IDA).

These screenings are offered free of charge. Seating is limited. Advance RSVP required. Register below:
