Event
mise-en @ the cell (May 2, 2013)
This concert will showcase the works of five composers from three different continents. The program will consist of two New York premieres entitled "Four Songs on Poems of Seamus Heaney" by NYU professor and Guggenheim fellowship recipient Louis Karchin, as well as "tho sm hve chngd", a 2013 revision of a 2010 work by young Canadian composer Graham Flett. The concert will also present a work by Bent Sørensen for solo trombone entitled "The Bells of Vineta". Finally, two world premieres for chamber orchestra will be featured with works by Erik Lund and Moon Young HA. With the exception of Sørensen, all composers will be present at the concert for a short discussion before the performance begins. The ensemble and the cell are excited to offer a diverse array of beautiful and thought-provoking sounds and will host a reception afterwards with beverages provided by the Brooklyn Brewery.
