The Chatham Area Public Library has found itself in a time of crisis. Due to new tax incentives put into place by local government, the area has become a hotbed of filming for movies and television. This has caused at least half of the librarys staff to quit their jobs in order to become stars of new reality television programs, such as The Real Housewives of Sangamon County and Survivor: Jim Edgar Panther Creek State Fish and Wildlife Area. As a result of its librarians resigning en masse, the governing board of the library district has had to resort to desperate measures, holding open cattle-call style interviews with any interested man, woman, child, or high-functioning barnyard animal capable of shelving a book or shushing a patron.
Facing increased scrutiny from the local media, pressure mounts as the hiring committee tries to walk the fine line between having enough warm bodies to staff the library on one hand and hiring only qualified candidates on the other. Oh, speaking of warm bodies . . . one of those bodies winds up not being particularly warm after a while, because the pale hand of the Grim Reaper overtakes one of the intrepid journalists who is on the scene. What caused that death? Disease? Old age? Bad shellfish?
Join us for this original murder mystery play, where you get to guess whodunit!
