Music at the Museum - May Erlewine wsg Olivia Millerschin
May Erlewine -
Some people might call May Erlewine Michigans Songbird, but her songs have traveled far beyond her home state. One of the most prolific and passionate songwriters of her generation, Mays music has touched the hearts of people all over the world. Her words have held solace for weary hearts, offered a light in the darkness and held a lot of space for the pain and joy of being alive in these times. When she starts to sing, theres no way around it. Welcome to the moment, everyone.

Raised in a family rich with art and music, May began writing songs and playing them for the people at a very young age. Her journeys have taken her all over the world, from street corners to renowned stages, May has performed for all walks of life. In her travels Erlewine came to know the land and the pulse of the people. Her songs show a very real connection and concern with everyday folk.

May pulls from a wide variety of sounds and influences to create her unique musical landscape. Youll hear traditional folk roots, old time country swing, soul and rock and roll but mostly shes inspired by the hearts of the people and the one in her chest. This music is about feeling and its about telling lifes stories.

May Erlewine is no stranger to the recording studio and continues to write and record songs for the times. Her newest record, Mother Lion, produced by Tyler Duncan, some boast to be her best yet. Her catalog has substance and her creative vision is expansive. Her songs have been sung by national acts, including Joshua Davis, Rani Arbo and Daisy Mayhem, Sawyer Fredericks (NBC the Voice), Railroad Earth, Greensky Bluegrass, Lindsay Lou and the Flatbellys and the list goes on.

She can front the Motivations, her seven piece retro-groove band and ignite the dance floor, play a dynamic and profound set with her americana band, or play a solo songwriter set to a silent teary audience. Whether its a solo performance or with a team of exceptional musicians backing her, every show is truly magical.

Olivia Millerschin -
With a celestial voice and lyrics only an old soul can write, singer/songwriter Olivia Millerschin is racking up the accolades. Most recently, Olivias blend of vintage folk and modern pop earned her a second John Lennon Songwriting Award and the opportunity to showcase her music with a mainstage performance at NAMM 2018. She was a quarter finalist on Americas Got Talent, won the Great American Song Contest, is featured on Republic Records soundtrack to Mitch Alboms latest novel alongside musical greats Ingrid Michaelson and Tony Bennett, and has music placed in national and international film and tv. Her achievements extend nationally as she was selected to perform at Milwaukees Summerfest, and has been a finalist in both the LA Music Critics Awards and The Detroit Music Awards. Her voice will also be heard in the 2018 Olympic Free Dance Program of US Pairs skaters Madison Chock and Evan bates.

With the release of her second full album Look Both Ways in 2016, Millerschin infused all the clever lyrics, haunting melodies and colorful folk, pop and soulful elements she is noted for. Produced in Brooklyn and Detroit, the album mirrors the grit and hopefulness of both cities and reflects her quest to look both ways as she relishes in the good while proceeding with caution in a complex music industry and world.

Just 22 years old, Olivia played more than 250 shows in 2017 spanning from Los Angeles to London. A talented multi-instrumentalist, she plays the ukulele, piano and guitar in addition to singing and songwriting. Olivia has toured internationally with Sawyer Fredericks, Howie Day, Tyler Hilton, Ryan Cabrera and Orla Gartland, and has performed at nearly 100 US colleges and a myriad of venues. Self-described as top end of mediocre, low end of fabulous, Olivias fun and vibrant personality makes her audience feel right at home. Whether performing at a local coffee shop or Radio City Music Hall, Olivia Millerschin warms hearts and touches souls.
