Integrative Psychopharmacology
Integrative Psychopharmacology for the Naturopath
The weekend-long course intertwines basic naturopathic psychopharmacology with allopathic knowledge. Co-taught by both a Naturopath (Dr. Elissa Mendenhall), and an allopath (Dr. Lydia Bartholow), this two-day offering highlights expertise from both worlds to allow your clinical practice to meet the complex needs of your clients. Utilizing both lecture and a case study format, you will gain necessarily knowledge of the most common psychiatric medications: how they work, how they interface with common naturopathic interventions and how to assist in safe and comfortable discontinuation. Moreover, you will be immersed in naturopathic mental health interventions - from amino acids to flower essences and beyond!
We will meet from 9am to 4pm on Saturday Jan 12th and Sunday Jan 13th.
Day 1: Led by Lydia Bartholow, DNP, PMHNP, CARN-AP (7 pharm CEU hours) - Central Nervous system and neurotransmitters 101 - The peoples psychopharmacology (AKA incredibly easy to digest and translate) - Introduction to tapering of psychiatric medications
Day 2: Led by Dr. Elissa Mendenhall, ND (7 general CEU hours) - Medical Illnesses Masquerading as mental health issues - the essential DDX - Intro to Amino Acid Therapy and neurotransmitter precursors - Intro to Flower Essence Therapy - Advanced medication tapering strategies
This course is estimated to be 7 Pharmacology and 7 General CEUs for Naturopathic Physicians. Application in progress. 375$ for CEs for the weekend (12 CEs). 225$ for an individual day. (6 CEUs).
After Nov 15th, cost for the CEU weekend will be 450$ and cost for each day will be 260$.
While designed for the ND, this course is open to anyone interested in learning more about integrative psychopharmacology. The psychopharmacology aspect is designed to be very accessible to all levels of knowledge. We welcome therapists, herbalists, health coaches, nutritionists and more! Cost for non-CEU attendance is 240 (130$) per day.
