DJUSD Special Education Parent Engagement Night
Please join us for the following breakout sessions:
Attending to Your Childs Social & Emotional Development: Preschool through Elementary (Preschool through elementary) DJUSD Mental Health Clinicians: This session will discuss common challenges in the social and emotional development of children with disabilities in preschool through elementary school and offer considerations and tips for family planning in these two areas.
"Strategies for Transition Assessment and Planning" (Post-secondary considerations, junior high through graduation)- Steve Ruder, UC Davis MIND Institute Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities. This discussion will focus on educational and career training programs available for students after completion of high school and offer tips to parents and students about planning for these varied programs and the impact of a high school diploma verses a certificate.
Special Education 101: An Overview Patrick McGrew, DJUSD Director of Special Education: This session offers a brief overview of the special education process including the eligibility process, development and implementation of the Individualized Education Program (IEP).
Attending to Your Childs Social & Emotional Development: Junior High to Graduation DJUSD Mental Health Clinicians: This session will discuss common challenges in the social and emotional development of children with disabilities in junior high through high school and offer considerations and tips for family planning in these two areas.
Breakout sessions will be followed by informal parent networking.
A light meal will be provided. Childcare and Spanish translation will be available.
