Community Service Morning: Mustard Seed School (2018 Experience Architecture)
IN COLLABORATION WITH THE AIACVS COMMITTEE ON
ARCHITECTURE FOR EDUCATION (CAE).

All proceeds will be donated to Mustard Seed School.
AIA Central Valley, the Committee on Architecture for Education (CAE), and a team of amazing volunteers have designed an updated, streamlined Outreach Cottage for Mustard Seed School. Now we need YOUR help to bring it to reality!

The Outreach Cottage is the first stop for parents and children when they enroll their children in Mustard Seed School, so this project is an important one for both those seeking services, and the staff who serve them.

We invite architects of all backgrounds, associates, allied members students and the general public to participate. We
will be painting and doing tasks at the school. Wear work clothes, closed toed shoes and bring gloves!

A light breakfast and snacks will be provided. Participants will be required to sign a release of liability prior to assisting.

If you are unable to participate, but want to help, please consider purchasing an item from the schools Amazon Wishlist: http://a.co/2OrySoh

Mustard Seed School was established in 1989 to help meet the needs of homeless children. Many school-age children are unable to attend school due to homelessness. Some children lack immunizations, birth certificates, or other documents; some are in transit; and almost all lack a support system. Despite their challenging situations, these children are eager to learn and to be accepted. Mustard Seed School fills this need in a warm, supportive environment.

Event founded by Laura Knauss, AIA.

SPONSORS: Comstocks magazine, California Surveying & Drafting Supply, Fulcrum Property Corp., Lionakis, Milgard Windows & Doors, SMUD, DLR Group and Flint Builders.

Experience Architecture is a public-outreach event designed to facilitate greater transparency with the public in how architects create our built environment and how it impacts their daily lives; to create an ongoing dialogue to inform a distinct, regional, architectural identity; and to highlight existing relationships between the region and its architecture. The 2018 event is scheduled from October 17th - 21st.
