Grand Re-Opening of the Idaho State Museum
The new Idaho State Museum is a fun, interactive place where people of all ages and backgrounds can experience the story of Idaho. The Museum explores how the unique landscapes in Idaho have shaped our people. Visitors will enjoy hands-on, immersive exhibitions, featuring multimedia experiences, photographs, and over 500 artifacts.

Friday, October 12 | 9am-8pm The outdoor ribbon cutting ceremony is from 9am-11am and is free and open to the public. Guest speakers include Governor C.L. Butch Otter and Idaho's First Lady Lori Otter, Lieutenant Governor Brad Little, Senator Brent Hill, Representative Rick Youngblood, Supreme Court Justice Roger Burdick, Chairmen of each of Idaho's five federally recognized tribes, and Idaho State Historical Society Executive Director, Janet Gallimore. Opening ceremonies also include a flag raising ceremony and tribal honor song, presided by General Garshak of the Idaho National Guard, singing of "America the Beautiful" by Senator Cherie Buckner-Webb, and a special performance of "Here we have Idaho" by fourth grade students from Adams Elementary.
Other activities include: Food Trucks Hands-on activities for children Potato sack races Geronimo the Beaver toss Gold panning Gallery talks in our temporary gallery spaces from 1-4pm (beginning on the hour) Tribal performances
Saturday, October 13 | 10am-5pm Free shuttle provided by Boise State University Department of History. The bus will be on a continuous loop and pick up/drop off will be roughly every half hour. Pick up/Drop off locations: BSU Brady Street Garage (North Side), W Diploma St, Boise, ID Clearwater Analytics, 777 W Main St Idaho State Museum, 610 Julia Davis Dr.
