Jane Austen Birthday Tea
Don your smartest bonnet and prepare for a battle of wits, Emma-style, at our ninth-annual Jane Austen Birthday Tea.
We will transport you back to Highbury with a visit to the village shop (the silent auction), high tea at the Woodhouses' (by Beth Sogaard Catering), and a ball at the Westons' (an English country dance lesson).
For your entertainment, Regency-riddle expert Mark Turner will lead a game of charades, in which you will conjure up your inner Emma or Mr. Elton to best your tablemates. Then we will end the afternoon with English country dancing set to live music by Quite Carried Away and with instruction by caller Kalia Kliban.
Doors open at 1:30, tea is at 2:00, and dancing is at 3:00.
